Don't give up Green-Ellis just yet
When scanning this week’s schedule, it is clear that there are fantasy football points to be had. These three games figure to feature some fireworks, and I take a look at how you can get a piece of the action.
New Orleans Saints @ Carolina Panthers
This game features two of the NFL’s top three passing offenses in terms of yards per game. Cam Newton and Drew Brees have played at a Pro Bowl level thus far, and I fully expect that to continue. The Saints have only two interceptions through four games, and that’s been the one weakness of the Panthers rookie QB. Carolina has been far more reliant on the pass than projected by most, frustrating DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart owners. Expect more of the same this week, as the Panthers figure to be playing from behind. Having said that, Stewart has more receiving yards than rushing yards thus far, making him the better of the two running backs this week. (more…)

There was certainly some eye dropping performances to open the 2011 season. Many elite threats in this division, but they come with extreme risk.
The AFC South features a handful of players ranked in the top 20 overall, but the stars here don’t come without huge question marks. After the first few rounds, your draft will lack AFC South members, as the talent pool is top heavy. Although risky, players in the division have the potential to dominate the fantasy world.
Indianapolis Colts
This is Peyton Manning’s show, as it always has been. The difference this year is that the future hall of famer is slowly recovering from off season neck surgery, and his status for the season opener is up in the air. He may not be in the top tier of quarterback, but he is certainly a top 7 option, and when on the field, is as consistent as they come. Expect Manning to show rust early, but round into mid season form sooner rather than later. His top target Reggie Wayne has been a top level performer every season that he has been paired with Manning. (more…)

Potential reigns supreme over experience in the up and coming NFC South
The NFC South has some of the premier young talent in the league, and it only got better with Mark Ingram and Julio Jones entering the division. All 4 teams provide some useful fantasy football options for 2011.
New Orleans Saints
The greatest show on turf in recent years, the Saints offense puts up points in bunches. Lead by pro bowl QB Drew Brees, Sean Payton employs a pass happy offense, making any and all WR’s viable fantasy options. However, constant production is hard to count on from any receiver other than Marques Colston, due to the number of options for Brees. Even Colston is a solid WR2 at best, somewhat surprising as the top target on one of the top passing offenses in the league. Devery Henderson, Robert Meachem, and Lance Moore all have the ability to explode, but starting them on a weekly basis isn’t recommended. Another WR has been added to the mix, with rookie Joesph Morgan impressing this preseason. (more…)
