Kickers. No one likes them, but for some reason they’re an accepted part of fantasy football. There’s no need to get cute with kickers. Please don’t waste a 10th round pick on David Akers thinking he will replicate last year’s statistics (unless your in my league, then please do so). The last time a kicker led the league in scoring in back-to-back years was in 1979-80. Wait for the last round of your fantasy football draft and then draft one, one round before your defense.
1. Stephen Gostowski
As steady as they come. He might not finish first, but he’ll no doubt finish near the top.
2. Mason Crosby
You know he will be get plenty of opportunities in this high-octane offense.
3. Dan Bailey, Cowboys
He excelled as a rookie last year and should build off that performance this season.
4. Sebastian Janikowski
The best leg in the league, the only thing holding him back is a suspect offense.
5. Nate Kaeding
Missed all of last season after tearing his ACL on the first play of the season, Kaeding returns with competition
6. David Akers
It’s going to be impossible to top last season, but Akers still makes for a fine kicker.
7. Rob Bironas
One of the most accurate kickers in the league is great from beyond 50-yards.
8. Alex Henery
As a rookie he struggled early on, but didn’t miss a kick after Week 4.
9. Robbie Gould
Another accurate kicker who is as solid as they come.
10. Matt Prater
Kicking in Denver at altitude helps as well as having Peyton Manning at quarterback leading the offense.
11. Neil Rackers
He was solid when he was in Houston and now in Washington his stock depends on if RGIII reignites the Redskins offense.
12. Jason Hanson
Even at 42, Hanson can still kick and will get plenty of opportunities playing for the Lions.
13. Garrett Hartley
Plays for perhaps the best offense in the NFL, but he has too many questions (injuries, suspensions, poor performance) for a fantasy kicker.
14. Billy Cundiff
Despite his crucial miss in the AFC Championship Game, he is still quality kicker.
