2011 Fantazzle Fantasy Football: Week 2 Start’em n Sit’em

WEEK 2 START'EM SIT'EM

Week 1 of the NFL regular season has finally come and gone. Now we’re in full swing of the 2011 fantasy football season and with that comes tough decisions every week on who to sit and who to start. The match-ups for your players now become ever important as you quest for fantasy gold. Here in week 2, take a look at some of the players who you should roll or bench.

Start’Em

WR, Malcom Floyd/San Diego Chargers: Don’t put too much thought into Floyd’s week 1 numbers, he should have a big year. In week 2, the Chargers play the Patriots in what will most likely turn into a shootout. I expect Malcom Floyd to catch a few deep bombs in that game and quite possibly a touchdown as well–or two!

WR, Plaxico Burress/New York Jets: Plax looked just like his old self in week 1 and even caught a TD. Now that Mark Sanchez has probably realized how easy it is to just chuck the ball up there to Plax, I’m sure he’ll do it more and quite often. Plaxico Burress should have another big game in week 2, start with confidence.

RB, Cadillac Williams/St. Louis Rams: Steven Jackson is looking very iffy to play on Monday night against the Giants. If so, Cadillac would be the number one back for St. Louis. Last week the Cadillac put up solid numbers in replacing Steven Jackson, so make sure to pick this guy up, and roll him in your lineup for week 2.

WR, Santana Moss/Washington Redskins: This one here is simple. If an aging Steve Smith from Carolina can have a monster game last week against the Cardinals, then why can’t a faster Santana Moss have one against them either? Especially considering how Rex Grossman looked in week 1, I wouldn’t put it past Santana and the Redskins to have a huge week 2 against Arizona’s D.

Sit’Em

RB, LeGarrette Blount/Tampa Bay Buccaneers: After a poor showing in week 1 and facing a defense in the Minnesota Vikings who are usually strong in stopping the run, I would sit LeGarrette here in week 2 until he can show me that he’s ready to start producing. If you don’t have any other options, then go ahead and play him, just don’t be surprised if he throws you up another dud playing against that always tough Minnesota D.

WR, Chad Ochocinco/New England Patriots: Brady threw for 500+ yards in week 1 and Ochocinco only managed to get his hands on 14 of those yards, which means that the rumors are true, Ocho has not fully grasped the offense yet and will need some more time before we can entrust him in our lineups. Unless you have any other options, keep him benched until further notice. He should be okay for the long haul however, I mean it is Chad Johnson (Ochocinco) and Tom Brady after all.

Gutsy sit’em call for the week: RB, Maurice Jones-Drew/Jacksonville Jaguars: Benching MoJo here in only week 2 is a roster move which only fantasy vets can do. You have to have guts to make a bench move like this, you have to trust yourself and know that he is going up against a Jet defense that does not play around with the run. You also have to know that Deji Karim is already there in Jacksonville stealing his touches. Karim is not just getting a few touches here and there, but he is in the game too when it counts and is going to see a lot of work to keep MoJo extra healthy, so I’m taking a chance here on benching Jones-Drew against the Jets in hopes that it pans out. like I always say, you play fantasy sports to score the most points and win the game, not to lose with certain guys sitting there in your lineup!
