Thursday, October 27th, 2011

At this point in the season, we know who the studs are and who the duds are. But on a week by week basis, anything can happen, and previously unsung players can dominate the fantasy football landscape. Week 8 Waiver Wire: Young Money

Brown (Left) and Sanders (Right)

Heading into week 8 of the fantasy football season, you’re more than halfway to the finish line that is hopefully a league championship. As bye weeks become more crucial, it’s important to have solid depth on your roster so you’re comfortable slotting in one of your current players instead of frantically going through the bargain bin. A great rule to live by in the world of weekly fantasy football is that it’s wasteful and unwise to have players on your roster than you know you’re probably never going to play but you keep them around just in case they finally get on track (See: DeAngelo Williams). The players listed below will help solidify your roster and keep you from going insane during bye weeks. (more…)

Deeper Minings: A Closer Look at Raiders-Browns

Will the arrival of Carson Palmer help or hinder Darren McFadden?

The way in which the Raiders steamrolled the Browns on Sunday highlighted the contrast in running ability between the two teams. The Raiders run the ball easily. The week’s wire spotlights some players who stumbled out of the gates but are primed to turn in on when it counts. (more…)

Monday, October 17th, 2011

If the Eagles turn their season around, Lesean McCoy will be driving the engine.

Eagles-Redskins

The Eagles dominated a game in which the Vick mystique started to wear thin. The Eagles ran the Redskins off their own field but Michael Vick passed for 237 yards and ran for 54, numbers that while decent, are not what fantasy owners expected from a first round pick. If you were redrafting now, Vick wouldn’t come near the top spot on anyone’s draft board. (more…)

Deeper Minings: A Closer Look at Jets-Patriots

Friday, October 14th, 2011

If Shonn Greene can run on the Patriots, can't your running back?

The game between the New England Patriots and New York Jets was frequently described as a matchup between a great offense and a great defense. Far less frequently does it get mentioned that it also pitted one of the league’s worst offenses against an atrocious defense. And that matchup was just as critical to the game. (more…)
